The Federal Government says nothing will prevent the ongoing reform of the Oil, Gas and Solid Mineral Sectors. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, who gave the assertion, says the extractive industry is vital to the economic emancipation of the country.
In the face of dwindling oil revenue, Nigeria is exploring creative ways of shoring up funds to tackle developmental challenges. The federal government is emphasising diversification of the nation’s source of revenue from oil, this according to the current administration will cushion the effect of the shortfall from oil.
This meeting at instance of acting President Osinbajo is to further strategise on ways of widening the nation’s source of income. After a closed door meeting the Chairman of EITI says Nigeria is ready to intensify the reform of the Solid Minerals Sector, a move which according to him will assist in taking attention away from oil.
