Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) is looking into new ways of ensuring that substandard products do not flood Nigerian markets. Director of the agency, Joseph Odumodu while speaking on the sidelines of an interaction with the Senate Committee on industries says the innovation which becomes active in 6 months will have mechanisms to track and identify such products.

About 80 percent of products consumed in Nigeria currently are imported and most times substandard. This is one reason why the standards regulatory agency is working out new ways to address the porous nature of the country’s borders.
