African countries who desire development have been told in no uncertain times to make Cities the fulcrum of development activities. Deputy Secretary General of the United Nation’s habitat 3 conferences Kumresh Misra, in his address to participants in urban journalists academy says African countries including Nigeria must focus on making Cities sustainable and habitable.

The Deputy Secretary General says development will only be faster on the continent when governments focus their energy on making Cities as integrated engine of growth. Journalists according to him have a major role to play in this regard by ensuring that governments recognise this fact.

Another speaker at the academy says managing Cities has to become the first priority of the Nigerian government.
