The stage may have been set for a showdown between Senator Kabiru Marafa and the Senate. The Senator is been accused of disparaging the Senate through some interviews he’s been granting the press. The ethic and privileges committee set up to look into the matter could not question Senator Marafa as he refused to show up.
Presenting several that had the Senator’s interviews, Senator Matthew Uroghide says that as a Senate, sanctions should be placed on any member who defames the upper chamber with damaging stories especially regarding the budget and padding. Furtherance to this accusations is the setting up of a committee to investigate the matter.
The ethics and privileges committee Chairman is seeking to know from the aggrieved Senator why it was a matter of pain for him to which he responded. But baffling is the fact that Senator Marafa’s disregard for the committee despite been served a notice.
