Banking activities in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital was observed to be normal on Tuesday contrary to the declaration of March 1 as “no banking day” by Civil Society Groups. Customers visited banks as usual and did not comply with the boycott intended to kick against what many call arbitrary bank charges and poor banking services across the Nigeria.

The Central Bank of Nigeria directed banks to charge fifty naira on all electronic transfers and teller deposits of one thousand naira and above with effect from the 1st February, 2016.
