Only a few months ago, Nigerians witnessed the sentencing of about five Nigerian students to death for drug trafficking by the Malaysian authorities. Despite the world and especially the seventh National Assembly standing against the sentencing, the students lost their lives.
The Senate again is raising an alarm regarding Nigerian students in that same country trafficking in drugs and has been asking that it be immediately checked to forestall any other international disagreements. The motion is co-sponsored by twenty one Senators indicating the seriousness of the motion.
The National and International outcry for clemency did not stop the young Nigerian student from dying. The laws of Malaysia a
like many other Asian countries are stringent especially relating to drug offence. Again the trend is on as Senator Gbenga Ashafa is expressing worries that some Nigerian student have been engaging themselves in the illicit trade in far away Asia.
