In continuation of efforts by the 8th assembly to revamp the Nations ailing economy and push the change mantra of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, members of the lower Legislative Chamber are frowning at the abandonment of one of the Nations most priced asset the Nigerian Defence industries corporation.

They are of the opinion that lack of proper maintenance of the industry is responsible for the difficulty the nation faced in procuring arms from other countries. The bill was sponsored by Oluwole Oke from Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun state for second reading.

Members of the legislature say it is unfortunate that the defence industry has been abandoned and the Nation is now going begging for arms from other nations to prosecute the fight against insurgency. They maintained that such projects would have saved the nation huge amount of foreign exchange which ultimately would have halted capital flight in the country.
