Labour Unions in the oil industry have shut down operations at the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in Abuja. The workers under the aegis of the National Union of Petroleum and natural gas workers and petroleum and gas senior staff association of Nigeria Say the unbundling as announced by the Minister of State for petroleum resources is a unilateral move which they will resist.

The leadership of the two unions are expected to address the press later in the day to state their grievances.
But a visit to the headquarters of the corporation reveals a deserted complex devoid of the normal hustle and bustle associated with the place. Most who work within the complex were seen milling around unable to gain access to the complex with union members stationed to prevent entrance.
