The menace of fake, adulterated, counterfeit or substandard drugs, non compliance with dosage as prescription by medical practitioners and self medication has been a major issue in the country and the consumer protection council is advising against such practices as this will help save lives. The Director General of the Consumer Protection Council, Modupe Atoki speaking with newsmen urge consumer to refrain from self medication and adhere strictly to prescriptions and ensure completion of the dosage. She says antibiotic resistance impedes the Consumers’ right to health and safety.
Noting that complaints are pouring into the council about electricity bills, the DG says the Council is mindful of trending concerns of consumer in the power sector and adds that consumers who have not been metered have a right to contest a bill and opt to pay the last undisputed bill.
