GBAGYI VILLA COMMUNITY PROTEST OVER PLANNED DEMOLITIONS OF RESIDENCES

Gbagyi Villa community in Chikun Local Government of Kaduna State have been staging a peaceful protest, to compel Kaduna State Government to rescind its decision to demolish their residential Houses. The protesters who are mostly women and children say they acquired the land from the rightful owners of the farmlands many years ago, and suddenly the Kaduna state government is marking about 3000 houses in the area, located behind the Kaduna polytechnic for demolition in the next one week.

The protesters, chanting save-our-soul songs, were armed with various placards carrying inscriptions like: “Don’t render us homeless”,” Don’t turn Gbagyi Villa to war zone”, “This is not the change we voted for”, “Please save our community”, “This is injustice”, “We want justice for Gbagyi Villa community”, “El-Rufai wants to push us away from our houses with bulldozers, pls don’t afflict or oppress us, President Buhari come to our aid, expressing their anger asking the state government not to go ahead with the plan.
