The Senate is declaring the impeachment proceedings embarked upon by five members of the Kogi State House of Assembly null and void. This is in line with the concurrence request by the House of Representatives following the report of its delegation to Kogi state on the illegal removal of the speaker of the House of Assembly.
National assembly correspondent Jamil Afegbua reports that the Senate is also condemning the action of the Police in subverting the provisions of the constitution by providing cover for the five members. In trying to stem what is now becoming a trend in nigeria’s democracy, the Senate is concurring with the house of representatives to find a solution to the troubles in the Kogi state House of Assembly where five members have impeached the speaker of the House of Assembly.
The House of Representatives had sent a delegation to Kogi to investigate what the matter is and the report submitted is calling for concurrence with the Senate.
