Lawyers are condemning criticisms that trail some judgments of election petition tribunal, Appeal Court and Supreme courts judgment describing the trend as misguided. Speaking at a National Conference on Election Petition Tribunal and Appeals organised by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, the lawyers agree that most of people criticising court judgments are only being swayed by their political inclinations.
Conflicting judgments from election tribunal and appeal courts of various divisions on similar cases seem to be the order of the day. With this in view, the president of the court of appeal convened a conference in Abuja with a view to reviewing the trend. But participants at the occasion who are mostly legal practitioners are urging Nigerians who have grievances over court decisions on election matters to channel them through the National Judicial Council rather than resorting to unfounded allegations.
