Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream has been meeting with the Minister for State Petroleum Ibe Kachikwu with a view to finding out why the fuel scarcity has been persisting till now. Committee Chairman Jibrin Barau says it is no longer easy for Nigerians to cope especially having been tasked over the last few weeks trying to get fuel.

Minister Ibe Kachikwu reeled off by first apologising for saying he is not a magician a statement he referred to as a joke and going on to explain, Kachikwu says products are not flooding the market due to the stoppage in subsidy payments which he says has been suspended since January 2016. This has caused a lull in the supply chain.
