NACA LAUNCHES ANTI DISCRIMINATION LAW

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS, (NACA) has unveiled Nigeria’s HIV/AIDS anti discrimination act 2014, which makes it illegal to discriminate against people based on their HIV status. Director General of NACA, John Idoko says this law will create a more supportive environment allowing people living with HIV /AIDS to carry on their lives as normally as possible in their communities.

Director General of NACA, Paul Idoko disclose that this new law will address the issue of stigmatization, and sensitive issues that person living with HIV/AIDS are facing. Country director, AIDS Health Care Foundation, Bayo Towolawi says the new law will help eliminate the discrimination person living with HIV/AIDS are facing especially in workplace. Most times the discrimination leads to denial of employment and hostility.
