Early detection of Cancer is the best protection says health experts. This is the message been passed at a sensitization program on Cancer Awareness holding in Jalingo the Taraba State capital. Uduak Godwin reports that the programme organised by Fahmas Cancer and Research Center is geared towards enlightening the public on reduction strategies that can lower the physical, emotional and financial burden on cancer patients.
While many cancers are linked to lifestyle factors such as unhealthy diets, smoking and lack of physical exercise; more than two thirds of these deaths particularly in Africa are caused by infections like hepatitis B and C which causes liver cancer. Hadiza Bello Yero who was once a victim of cervical cancer is passionate on providing a world class diagnostic center in Taraba that will be affordable to all.
