Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria HURIWA is calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to be more proactive in his appointment of a new Head for the National Human Rights Commission and other relevant agencies in the country. Speaking to news men at the association’s headquarters in Abuja, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko says the commission and some others like it have become moribund due to their inability to settle human rights complaints in the country.
It’s no longer news that there are several cases of human rights abuses unattended to in the country. Despite complaints coming in from members of the public to this effect, the Human Rights Writers Association is blaming this inadequacy on the lack of a proper administrative pattern especially in the appointments of people relevant to these agencies.
