ECOWAS PARLIAMENT BEGINS EXTRA ORDINARY SESSION

Cooperation backed by enabling laws is the way to go for the West Africa sub region to truly overcome its various challenges which includes Youths Restiveness, Insecurity and others. This will only happen with the expansion of the impact and powers of the ECOWAS parliament in partnership with the head of states of the members of the body. Speaker of the ECOWAS parliament, Mustapha Cisse Lo, says the parliament will work with the commission to make this a reality.

With the swearing in of these new members of the ECOWAS parliament, the stage is set for the commencement of business of the 5 day extra ordinary meeting of the parliament of the sub regional body. In his speech to set the agenda, Speaker of the parliament says the 4th Legislature of ECOWAS seeks to put in place a strategic plan to make the work of the ECOWAS Commission and the Head of States easier.

He says the Legislature also seeks to expand its impact and influence so as to help in addressing the major challenges facing the region.
