The Federal Government says persistent clashes between farmers and herdsmen is having negative impact on the economy of the nation. Muhammed Ahmed stated this while on behalf of Ministry of Agriculture. The Permanent Secretary represented by Ahmed Muhammed says that the Federal Government has approved the grazing of land for the nomadic farmers. This according to him will assist in tackling poverty which is a byproduct of conflict between farmers and herdsmen.
The Country Director, Mercy Corps, Iveta Ovury disclosed that the ongoing violent conflicts between farmers and herdsmen has resulted in significant socio economic loss in four states of Benue, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Plateau. She says this states have loss 347 million due to the conflict since 2010.
