The Chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar has refused to reverse his earlier decision to conduct the trial on alleged false assets declaration against the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on day to day basis. This was after Saraki’s lawyers filed an application asking for one week adjournment to enable them study documents tendered by the prosecution.
The Tribunal Chairman is insisting that his decision to conduct the trial on day to day is line with Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015. But defence counsels are however saying that if the trial is to go on day to day that it will not give them enough time to study exhibits tendered against their client. The prosecution counsel is opposing the application, describing it as an attempt to defeat the directive of the tribunal.
