Authorities of the Nigerian Peace Corps have been refuting allegations that it has been collecting the sum of forty thousand naira to offer jobs to prospective job seekers. National Commandant of the Corps Dickson Akor denied these claims during a media parley in Abuja. He says been a non-profit organisation, the alleged amount is to provide kits for prospective members.
Just the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps started out a few years ago as a volunteer force, the Nigerian Peace Corps is towing the same line hoping to be established by an act of the National Assembly. But even before that gets off the ground though, issues of alleged corruption are already making the rounds. Youths seeking employment with the corps are alleged to be paying forty thousand naira to successfully be taken as members.
