EARLY CHILD MARRIAGE: GROUP SEEKS LAWS TO ABOLISH PRACTICE

The high rate of early child marriage is becoming alarming. About 39 percent of girls are getting married before they are 18 years old. Janti Soeripto, the CEO of Save the Children International says in many parts of Nigeria, young mothers are exposed to violence, and lack of access to healthcare nutrition and education. The organization is advocating for quality education and healthcare for all children by 2030.

The Chief Executive Officer is urging Government at all levels to show commitment to education and healthcare of children. Emphasizing that legislature should enact laws that will eradicate early child marriage.
