Torrential rains recorded in Jalingo the Taraba State Capital recently rendered a lot of people homeless and destroyed property worth millions of naira. Our Taraba State Correspondent Uduak Godwin who monitored the aftermath of the rain across the city reports that victims of this disaster have been crying for out for help from the State Government.
Jalingo the State Capital recorded its 4th downpour since the commencement of this year’s rainy season which was accompanied by heavy winds that pull down a lot of residential houses in its path. A visit to Saminaka area of Sabon Gari, Mile six and other parts of the metropolis revealed that the rainstorm caused havoc leading to the displacement of many, including women and children as they were seen stranded in front of their collapse buildings.
They are however seeking assistant from relevant authorities charged with the responsibility of providing immediate reliefs to victims of disaster to come to their aid. At the college of Nursing and midwifery Jalingo, roofs of some lecture halls and other offices were also blown off by the storm. The school management has assured that the disaster will not in any way affect the school’s activities, as proper action is underway.
