The Current security challenges in the country is making the armed forces of Nigeria more engaged in some of it stipulated constitutional role in Civil Military relations as it poses a strong influence in the process of development and democracy. Minister for Defence made this know at a one day dialogue on fostering civil military relations in Nigeria.
He says there is need for the civil society to understand the purpose of establishing the armed forces with adequate capabilities. The Nigerian Military, like many Government institution requires a functional and effective channel to educate, inform and enlighten the public on its activities.
Given the complexity associated with the balancing of military necessities and human rights protection during conflict, it has become imperative that the public should know the role of the Nigerian Military and show corporation.
