PARTY HOPES TO UNITE WITH SHERRIF’S REMOVAL

Some stalwarts of the People’s Democratic Party have been expressing satisfaction with the outcome of the botched factional convention held in Port Harcourt last weekend. Speaking exclusively with Core TV News crew in his home in Abuja, former President of the Senate Ibrahim Mantu say the party can now begin the process reconciliation since the Interim Chairman Ali Modu Sheriff has been removed.

Mantu says the problem had been the selection Sheriff as chairman which was a mistake in the first place and his removal is a welcome development. The crack in the party became deeper last weekend when two separate conventions were held by the two factions. While the Abuja faction which had elders of the party making their own decisions, the Port Harcourt faction was sacking the interim Chairman and choosing a Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the party until a convention is held.
