Some stalwarts of the People’s Democratic Party have been expressing satisfaction with the outcome of the botched factional convention held in Port Harcourt last weekend. Mantu says the problem had been the selection Sheriff as chairman which was a mistake in the first place and his removal is a welcome development. The crack in the party became deeper last weekend when two separate conventions were held by the two factions. While the Abuja faction which had elders of the party making their own decisions, the Port Harcourt faction was sacking the interim Chairman and choosing a Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the party until a convention is held.
