A bill seeking a five year jail term for randy educators is been deliberated at the Senate. The bill proposed by Ovie Omo Agege seeks for an act to provide for the prohibition of sexual harassment of students by educator in tertiary institutions. The debate had divergent views on who actually harasses who, but the Senate is accepting to make enabling laws to forestall cases of sexual harassment.

The sponsor of the bill was quite emotionally in his quest to see that lecturers who sexually harass or assault female student are seriously punished. He observes that some female students of higher institutions are clearly at the mercy of these lecturers who do anything including threats of low grades to get what they want.

His point is immediately supported by some members who are asking the senate to go ahead and pass the bill seeing the damage it does to the future of the harassed students.
