The House of Representatives has today been continuing the ongoing public hearing on the influx of unidentified herdsmen into the country and killings in most parts of Benue state. The hearing which started Wednesday could not continue due to the absence of the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies who were conspicuously absent.

The Committee resumed hearing on the matter this time with the IGP the Director State Security and other security agencies in attendance. The hearing is in continuation of the ongoing investigation into the mayhem that took place and allegedly still taking place in Benue state.

The failure of the major stakeholders like the police and other security agencies to attend the hearing stalled proceedings Wednesday prompting the chairman to reschedule. The chairman reiterated the importance of holding the hearing and appreciated the IGP for honouring the call by the Committee.
