Children are blessings to any family, but taking care of them shouldn’t be left in the hands of parents and wards alone, but it is also government’s responsibility to protect them. The infringement on the Child’s Right in Nigeria is the subject of a motion moved by Senator Oluremi Tinubu from Lagos state who observes that there’s a need to recognise the significant role the Nigerian child plays in the nations development.
Tinubu says the nation must lay a good foundation for the children so as to secure their future. As the nation celebrates Children’s day on Friday, the Senate is through a motion asking Nigerians to begin to see the importance of the child to the nation. The mover is worried that as a result of insurgency and the general insecurity situation in the country, children especially have been rendered vulnerable.
The Nigerian child is going through so much that it looks like government is just looking the way. And going by global best practices, the Nigerian child is not getting enough of care.
