Academic activities are now on hold in Taraba State as the state’s wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers has embarked on a 3 day warning strike. The action according to the union is taken to press home the demands of teachers for a better working condition in the state.
Students and pupils of primary and post primary schools in Taraba state were expected to resume their studies after the long democracy holidays but that did not come to be as the students were asked to return home due to the absence of their teachers. The teachers are on the strike following the inability of the state government to pay the salaries of primary and post primary school teachers in the state.
They are agitating for unpaid arrears of salaries… Lack of implementation of promotions of teachers… Non renovation of schools in the state… Outstanding balance of minimum wage of primary school teachers, among others.
