The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, has warned against the diversion of funds and other resources donated by International humanitarian organisations for Internally Displaced Persons in Borno State and other parts of the country.
Magu said that anyone caught in the ignoble act of tampering with such benevolence will be treated as a criminal, adding that the commission will ensure that there is transparency and accountability in the use of the resources meant for IDPs. The chairman handed down the warning during a visit to the re-opened Zonal office of the commission in Maiduguri.
The EFCC boss expressed worry about complaints of corruption in IDP camps, coming from International humanitarian organizations and other civil society organizations that are helping the distressed victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the city and beyond.
