Insecurity in the Lake Chad Basin region of West Africa has resulted in large number of Internally Displaced Persons and refugees. The UNHCR and other stakeholders are meeting in Abuja to work out ways of protecting the victims of terrorism and reintegrating them back into the mainstream of society.
Vice President Osinbajo says that the story of the Lake Chad Basin which gave hope to the people of the region is now that of despair as a Large number of people have become IDPs because of Boko Haram terrorist attacks.
He is optimistic that the outcome of the dialogue would be important building blocks to resolving humanitarian and ecological crises in the North East region of Nigeria. Minister for Interior, says the success recorded by the President Buhari administration is as a result of regional collaboration.
He reiterates the resolve of the present administration to stem the activities of Boko Haram terrorists.
