Immediate past Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party the PDP says despite the conventions decision to go for a caretaker arrangement, he remains the Chairman of the Party. Sheriff who in the early hours of Monday stormed the Wadata House headquarters of the party along with his supporters say the party constitution does not have provision for caretaker committee arrangement and therefore he does not recognize any such move by the party.

He says he the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase must as a matter of urgency obey court order and withdraw his men from the Party Headquarter and allow him and his officers get to work. A mild drama ensued this morning with former PDP Chairman Ali Modu Sheriff prevented from gaining access to the Wadata Plaza Headquarters of the party in Abuja.

Sheriff who drove to the Party’s Headquarters around 8 in the morning in a black Range Rover Jeep and a convoy of other cars and his aides was denied access by a detachment of Policemen who have been deployed there to prevent a breakdown of law and order. Claiming ownership of the Chairmanship seat at the headquarters, he says no arrangement made at the convention decided on a Caretaker arrangement as he has legal backing to remain Chairman.
