The issue of where the headquarters of the proposed North East Developing Commission should be cited is causing ripples on the floor of the Senate. Considering the report of the Committee on Special Duties on the establishment of the commission, members from the region are each asking that the headquarters be cited in there state.
The Senate also passed for second reading thirteen bill seeking to alter the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Commission when eventually established will cater for the reconstruction, rehabilitation as well as take care of the needs of those internally displaced as a result of the devastating effects of the Boko Haram insurgency.
The issue of funding first reared its head as members are determined to know where the finances will come from.
