The trial of former Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, Raymond Dokpesi before the Federal High Court Abuja has been stalled again due to the absence of the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs. When the matter came up before Justice James Tsoho, the Defence Counsel, Ifedayo Adedipe told the ‎court that shortly before the sitting, he got a letter informing him that the prosecution counsel, Jacobs, sought an adjournment to enable him appear before the Appeal Court for another matter.

The trial of the media mogul Raymond Dokpesi before the Federal High Court Abuja over an alleged 2.1 billion naira fraud has suffered several setbacks after he was arraigned. Many of the adjournment in the case had been at the instance of the prosecution counsel, having filed additional proofs of evidence.

Due to Jacobs’s absence on Wednesday, Dokpesi’s lawyers urged the court to give a long adjournment to enable the prosecution counsel put his house in order and also taking the court vacation which starts in July in consideration. The trial judge, Justice James Tsoho subsequently adjourned the case till October 19 for prosecution to call its witnesses.
