Boko Haram insurgents have killed twenty four people in an attack in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa state. The insurgents, numbering over about a100, came at about 10 pm on Thursday shooting indiscriminately during the attack killing the twenty four and injuring about 10 persons various degrees of injuries. 18 corpses were discovered on Thursday night after the insurgents had left the village, while the remaining six corpses were removed from the surrounding bushes at the break of dawn.
Majority of those killed are women and children and those injured in the attack are receiving medical attention at the Gulak Cottage Hospital, three kilometres from the village. The insurgents are reported to have stormed the village located on the fringes of the notorious Sambisa forest on motor bikes around 10pm while the villagers were at the wake of a dead member of the community taking them by surprise.
Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, Othman Abubakar who confirmed the attack says security agencies are on the trail of the attackers. Member representing Michika/Madagali Federal Constituency, Adamu Kamale, condemned the incident.
