The era of abandoned project is over for good as the Federal Government says it will work to complete all ongoing federal projects while also opening up new ones. This according to the Power, Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola, will ensure that construction works are completed on time and lead to more employment for Nigerians.
The Minister also assures host communities of government projects that they will be involved in the process that will be mutually beneficial to all. This is the Loko/Oweto Bridge awarded by the Federal Government in 2011 to link loko in Nasarawa state to Oweto in Benue state with an original contract sum of 36.1 billion naira later revised to 51.6 billion naira due to some design modification.
Work had stopped at the site in June 2015 due to accumulated failure to fund the project but today just like the Federal Government has been saying over the last few weeks the contractors are back on site working on the project. For the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, it is cheering news, he also promises that the Government will do it’s very best to ensure that all ongoing projects are funded despite lean resources.
