LIFE PENSION: SENATORS DIFFER ON THE PROPOSAL FOR PRINCIPAL OFFICERS

Members of the Senate have been reacting differently to the proposed life pension payments to principal officers of the National Assembly. Speaking to our crew before the days plenary, some of the Senators discountenanced the move calling it a waste of resources especially at a time when the country is going through some economic difficulties.

There is a proposal on the drawing board for principal officers of the National Assembly to continue earning government pay after they leave office.

This proposal was one of the major discourses at the recently concluded Constitutional Review Committee retreat in Lagos where a vote on the issue was required.
