The Senate has taken a stance to invite the Attorney General of the Federation to come and explain why the President of the Senate and his Deputy should be arraigned in court over allegations of altering the Senate Standing Rules. In an emotion laden motion moved by Dino Melaye, Senator expressed anger at what they call an attack on the Senate and the Legislature at large by the Executive.

Resuming office on the 9th of June 2015, members of the National Assembly were inducted with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a copy of the standing rules of both chambers.

But that standing rule is beginning to cause ripples as the Attorney General of the Federation is suing the Senate Leadership for alleged alteration. In the prayers, the Senate decides the Attorney General must within two days appear before it to explain the reasons behind his actions.
