The issue of affordability and sustainability of a National Housing Strategy is one that needs answering by the National Summit on affordable housing. Power, Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola in his keynote address calls for all stakeholders attending the summit to collectively come up with an affordable house that will be used to drive the bridging of the yearly deficit of one million houses in Nigeria.
The issue of access to houses and its affordability for the average Nigerian is one that successive governments have grappled with and according to the Power, Works and Housing, the issue is one that will be addressed by this summit on affordable houses.
He expresses his confidence that the challenges that needs to be surmounted will eventually lead to a sector which builds an agreed design with the federal serving as a guarantor for such buildings.
