The House of Reps is set to begin an investigation into an alleged proposal to auctioning off 2.6GHz spectrum by NCC in favour of MTN without considering the fundamental human rights of the current licenses. These according to the Lawmakers could lead to about 10,000 job losses in the economy.

The motion came under a matter of urgent public importance by a Lawmaker from Bayelsa State over concerns that the fundamental rights of current licenses were not taken into account when the bid of MTN was considered.

He expresses concern that while the auctioning may be necessary to meet up with the digital compliance, there is also the need to build confidence in all the parties that are currently stakeholders.
