Plateau residents have been urged to become regular blood donors. The charge was given in Jos by the Zonal Coordinator, national blood transfusion service, Dr Damulak Dabus. He says those who donate blood voluntarily are actually saving lives including their own.
International best practices are put in place in the processes leading to blood donation, preservation and eventual transmission and so the fear many have should be allayed.
The coordinator adds that the Nation need one million unit of blood annually with Plateau needing thirty thousand units but says even that amount is grossly inadequate.
