The Senate has expressed concerns over statements made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal that Constituency Projects may not be implemented in the 2016 budget.
In a motion of urgent importance raised by Matthew Uroghide, the Senate observes that Constituency Projects are their own way of reaching their people with development and therefore must be implemented in the budget.
Since the inception of democracy, there have been representative and they are the voice the people. For development to trickle down, there is a provision for constituency projects. But the statement made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation that the projects may not be implemented in this year’s budget infuriates the Senators.
