The association of Ex- Service pensioners has distanced itself from the proposed protest by Retired Army, Navy, and Airforce retirees over the Non-payment of their pension arrears. President of the association stated this at a media conference in Abuja. He says there is an on-going dialogue with the Federal Government through the Ministry of Defence for adequate actions to remedy the pension anomalies.
The pension problem over the failure of payments started since 2003 when 20.37% was illegally deducted from the original 53.37% pension increment during the implementation of consolidated armed forces salary scale.
The President says the association is in high level talks with the federal government to resolve the issue. Adding that, it is therefore illogical for any group to embark on protest.
