The rumours of a threat to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari by some Senators loyal to President of the Senate Bukola Saraki has been discountenanced by the Senate. Raising a point of Order, Senator Hamad Misau from Bauchi Central displayed copies of some newspapers that alleged that the matter was discussed during one of their Executive Sessions.
He says the Senate must investigate and apply the necessary sanctions to forestall rumours like these going out to the public claiming that most of the Senators mentioned did not contribute during the session.
The matter has been referred to the Senate’s Committee on Ethics and Privileges for further investigation and to report back in two weeks.
