Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari has described alleged impeachment move by the State House of Assembly against him as laughable. Governor Yari who spoke on the sideline the monthly Nigeria Governors’ Forum meeting at Presidential Villa exonerated himself of any wrong doing. Though the meeting is meant to deliberate on issues affecting States across the Nation but the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum used the platform to speak to journalists on the alleged impeachment noticed served him by the Zamfara State House of Assembly.
The Legislator accused Governor Yari of allegedly misappropriating 11billon naira bailout fund, 1billion naira agricultural loan released by the Central Bank of Nigeria amongst other impeachable offences. But the Governor who seems not to be moved by the threat denies the allegations leveled against him.
However, there are reports of the arrest of the Speaker Sanusi Rikiji, his deputy, Muhammed Gumi and other Principal Officers of the State House of Assembly by the Department of State Security Service, a move seen by analyst as intimidation and interference of the oversight function of State House of Assembly.
