Senate Leader Ali Ndume has the allegation of Budget padding in the National Assembly has untrue. Ndume stated this while briefing State House Correspondent alongside some members the National Assembly after observing the weekly Jumat prayer with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa. Allegations of budget padding have continued to a common decimal since the presentation of the 2016 Appropriation Bill to the joint session of the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Though some civil servants have sacked by the Presidency over the allegation of additional amount to the original budget. But the recent allegations and counter allegations of Budget padding in the House of Representatives over the sack of Abdulmumin Jibrin as the Chairman House Committee on Appropriation by Speaker Yakubu Dogara is generating public attention. With both accusing each other of padding the 2016 budget with huge sum of money.
Reacting to the allegation, the Senate Leader says Budget padding is the making of the media.
As the cross fire continues over allegations of Budget padding, the only way to lay the matter to rest according analyst is to allow relevant anti corruption agency to investigate and prosecute anybody found culpable.
