Nigerians have again been advised to stop the felling of trees especially for fuel purposes. Acting Director Information and Communication department for the FCT gave this advice against the backdrop of people cutting down trees to cook and for some other domestic uses saying that the health implications are enormous.
Tree felling has some major implications as it creates desertification in some areas as well as reduces the oxygen intake of human beings.
But the impoverished state of many Nigerians has made necessary for some to cut down trees. The price of kerosene and cooking gas have gone out of the reach of the common man hence the need to seek alternatives especially in fire wood.
