In a dramatic turn of events, the major opposition candidate in Minjibir by-election, Auwalu Ubale Minjibir withdrew from the race Saturday morning. Ubale Minjibir who claimed violation of understanding reached with other critical stakeholders revealed that his ambition does not worth the life of an electorate.
Minjibir further said that “we agreed on number issues that would ensure free poll, but that gentleman agreement has been sacrificed on the alter of desperation” He added that ” from the evidence on ground, there are high risk of violence if I insist on my mandate, and I felt my life does not worth the life of my people”. Minjibir therefore declared that ” in the interest of peace, I have withdrawn from the race for another day”.
In the meantime, election commenced in all the eleven wards with voters apathy characterising the much talk about exercise. Details soon.
