The issue of Drivers License and the fees paid for them has been a source of friction between drivers and agencies responsible for their issuance in Nigeria. The Federal Road Safety Corps recently announced that the drivers license can be obtained for a figure just over 6000 naira but commercial drivers who most times bear the brunt of the activities of traffic and Road Safety Agencies say this is far from the truth.
The Drivers License just like many official documents in Nigeria has a price at which Nigerians can have access to them but many at times getting them at the official price is a major issue.
While the fact that the issuance of the Drivers License by many agencies does not help, the announcement by the Federal Road Safety Corps that the cost is just 6300 would have been a welcome development, but this according to commercial drivers is farther from the truth.
