The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) with support from the United Nations Office on Drug and Crimes has launched guidelines that will help provide comprehensive care for victims of trafficking in the country. Acting Director-General of NAPTIP, Abdulrazak Dangiri and other officials of the United Nations unveiled the guidelines at a programme in Abuja as part of activities to commemorate the 2016 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
The officials of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and their partners are here for the unveiling of a document, codenamed Guidelines on National Referral Mechanism for protection and assistance to trafficked persons in Nigeria.
According to them trafficked persons after they are rescued suffer psychological trauma and need special care for them to come back to normalcy.
