The Federal Government has approved the construction of a new Seaport in Badagry, Lagos state. The Seaport to be constructed over five years is expected to cost 2.6 billion dollars. The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed stated this while briefing State House Correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting. The Minister says the Federal Government has also approved multilateral competent authority agreement to avoid evasion by multinational companies.
Deliberations at the council chambers started at 10am with the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari. After three hours of deliberation, the Ministers of Information and Culture, Transportation, and Works, Power and Housing briefed State House Correspondents.
According to the Ministers of Information and Culture and his Power, Works and Housing their Transportation counterparts, the Seaport to be built in Badagry will further reduce the pressure on existing Seaports besides creating additional job opportunities for Nigerians.
